My own experiences on Manners…

•December 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I guess you can say I am passionate when it comes to people who don’t have good manners. I just don’t get how people can’t have manners, where did you grow up in a brawling ring like holy geez!. Whether its a young punk kid or a 85 year old woman , regardless you should have some sort of manners. Especially people who are at work should really have their manners in tact!.

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

So I was in the store the other day waiting in a huge line with my cart full of groceries and have been waiting for just as long as anybody else there, when a cashier was either starting his/her shift or coming back from a break. When….. he/she just opened her cash, with no intention of taking “the next person” in line or anything just a herd of carts racing to her cash. With no intentions I think of taking the next person in line ….. like how freaking rude!  and to be honest isn’t that how it works.

Social Media

When talking about Social Media where do you start there are so many types of social media, here are a few to just list some

  • WordPress
  •  Twitter
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • MySpace
  • Meetup.com
  • Flickr
  • YouTube
  • Skype

now that list is just a few, i can’t imagine how many more there are out there. Social Media is a huge part of the business as Patti Church( of whyhire.me), when she was a guest speaker in class she said, that people don’t like change, she said this is a train and it’s going by fast so you better get on it, or its just gonna go by, and you miss out on that opportunity. She said in order to have a good appearance in in the social media world, you need to create the online presence.

Patti also said she feels that in order to stand out in the social media world you need to be passionate about what it is your doing, becasue you can’t lie on the internet. She promotes Twitter non stop, she loves twitter its the way social media is going. She urged everyone to look into, I got the impression that Patti would be an amazing professor or just to be able to sit with her and she how she does things, she’s very inspiring.

A social media video that i found interesting.

Networking

“Networking is so important in a business, to get new clients, meet new people, and have aweosme connections, that’s what its’s all about you have to Network, Network, Network!” said Wendy, when she came into our class as a guest speaker she was so motivational about what she does and how she got there. She told us that without networking it’s hard for your business to grow.

In my opinion the larger network of contacts you have the more work you can get for yourself or your business, also it’s a great way to promote who you are and what you do.

very interesting video on networking

Taxes for Entrepreneurs

•December 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment

It is highly important to know your rate of different taxes you need to pay when your a business owner. Being a business owner and not knowing what you are paying can be bad for the entrepreuneur. An entrepreneurs need to know what amount in GST, PST HST they are paying.  If you don’t know what you are paying in taxes, then that can lead to paying for something that you shouldn’t have to. Also “make sure you have a good tax program on your computer and get a taxer to do your taxes” as Marlene  Grant said. She gave us alot of advice on taxes and how to file them right and to know which taxes are the ones that would apply to you based on your business.

A good video on taxes, i found interesting.

E-commerce

•December 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

so as far as e-commerce and i go, we are not the best of friends in the internet world. E-commerce how i know it is work related transitions done electronically throught the internet because the business owner and the buyer.  For e-commerce for entrepreneurs, i would think it would be a good idea to be knowledgable in e-commerce and use it on a regualr basis.

E-commerce in a business as I have found seems to me aas the new way to go. It seems as one of the new trends that business professionals and business owners use. I can only imagine how much easier it would be for all new business owners to make transactions between different customers and everything being online makes it so much easier for business entrepreneurs to have many customers all over the world.

Branding!

•November 7, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Personal branding is the process whereby people and their careers are marked as brands.

Your personal brand is a very important thing to promote yourself/company name. I’ve learnt alot about branding in my adverting/marketing class, that without a brand your really nobody in the world of promoting yourself. With a brand you have a way to promtoe yourself, show who you are as a person and as a company mainly. To show what your standards are, who you are as in character of company, and what you do at your company.

I did alot of research on branding and found that it just doesn’t take two minutes to find your brand. As I originally thought it would, well boy was i ever wrong. Especially for a freelance company like what i do. A brand is more important than ever, as well as networking, and social media practices.

On a final note check out this video on how to brand yourself and how it makes as small as people on the internet who have made it big on the internet.
